Obituary for Charles Ammon Winter

Charles "Ammon" Winter was born in Rexburg, Idaho to Victoria Lyn Elgerzah and Gerald Alvin Winter on March 12, 1993. It was his Dad's 25th birthday that day as he, the first born of five siblings, was welcomed into the world. Ammon was an energetic child who loved books and playing outside. He excelled in school and sports. As he grew, many would consider him to be an "old soul". He was mature, kind, generous, peaceful and also driven to conquer difficult things. He graduated from Capital High School in 2011. Ammon excelled in his classes. He became a very decorated wrestler but loved other sports as well such as cross country and swimming. After high school, Ammon served a successful mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Atlanta, Georgia North Mission. Upon return from his mission, Ammon started attending school at Boise State University. He began as an engineering student but soon changed his focus to Nursing. He worked hard and ended up on the dean's list many times during his time in the program. Ammon worked as a certified nurse's assistant at St Luke's hospital while he was attending Boise State. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in 2019. Upon graduation, Ammon landed a great position as a nurse in the surgical intensive care unit at St Luke's hospital as well. During his time as an assistant and a registered nurse, Ammon has been described as kind, helpful, fast, and thorough. Ammon has been a great friend, brother, son and all around good person. He enjoyed mountain biking, rock climbing, fishing, kayaking, motorcycle riding and pretty much anything outdoors. Ammon passed on from this life on the evening of October 29, 2019. Everyone who knows him will miss this handsome, kind, intelligent, driven, quiet soul. Ammon was always deeply concerned for his siblings and felt responsible to care for them. He was admired and loved by his brothers as an intelligent and caring role model, and he was a tender and kind friend to his sister. He was wonderful and thoughtful as a brother, son, and as a friend. We love him. The world is a better place having had him in it.
