Obituary for Betty Lou Rossow

Betty Lou Thomas Rossow went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday, September 6, 2019. Betty was born on August 3, 1935 in Boise, Idaho to parents Denver Curtis Thomas and Oshia Ora Martin Thomas.

Betty's young years led her around the Western States with her family as her father worked construction war contracts for Morrison Knudsen.
Betty attended Boise schools and graduated from Boise High. After graduation Betty worked for Mountain Bell phones until she moved to Brownlee, Oregon with her parents while her father worked on the construction of the Brownlee Damn with MK. While Betty was in Brownlee she met and fell in love with Carlyle Rossow. Betty and Carl married in Boise on July 14, 1957.
After leaving Brownlee Carl and Betty returned to Boise to purchase their first home where they continued to raise their 2 boys, Michael & David.
Betty was very involved in her church and was a Family History Consultant in the Genealogy Library for 22 years. Betty was a family historian & always loved helping anyone that needed help in locating information about their families or just sharing in family history research. Many family and friends reached out to Betty for her knowledge, wisdom and counseling. If you had a problem or a question you just could not find the answer or solution for, Call Betty!
Betty had many loves and interests. She could often be seen caring for her garden or mowing her 1 acre park like yard. She loved all animals, and that reflected in the great care she gave to the local birds that would visit her yard. Betty purchased many bags of bird food over the years. Betty loved dogs and would take in a dog that someone could not keep, or take in a stray that was lucky to end up at her home. An example of this was a stray turtle she named Trucker that she had for the past 43 years. Trucker continues to truck around her home with his partner of 11 years another stray turtle named Bella.

Betty was blessed later in her life with grandchildren and had a helping hand in raising two of the younger grandchildren in the last year, Danielle, 7 and Alexander, 4.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers Roger Thomas & Richard Thomas. She is survived by her sons Michael of Caldwell and David of Meridian; grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, September 14, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 190 S. Locust Grove Road in Meridian. A graveside dedication will follow the service at Cloverdale Memorial Gardens Cemetery at 1200 N Cloverdale Road in Boise.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Saint Luke’s Meridian for the care and compassion that they gave to Betty.
