Obituary for Albert Leroy Erickson

Albert Leroy Erickson passed away on October 3, 2020 in Nampa at his home. Albert was born July 28, 1927 in Cincinnati, Ohio To E. Albert Erickson and Garland Gaskell. He grew up in Montana and Idaho with his brother, Richard. Albert joined the Navy when he was 16 and served during WWII, mainly on the USS Waxwing and The USS Tolman in the Pacific. In September 1948 he married Lois Waltman and together they had eight children: Vicki, Judy, Connie, Linda, Cheryl, Albert, Eric, and Terri. During those years his favorite profession was driving big rig long hauls. The kids loved when they were chosen to make trips with Dad. Eventually, he worked for Nampa Street Department until he had to retire early. In January 1978 Lois passed away after a tragic car accident which left Albert badly disabled. He was determined to not let it or any other problem interfere with him making the best out of life. He married Shirley Croxall later that year and became step-father to her eight children: Mark, Kathy, Marvin, Don, Luann, Richard, Ralph, and Darla. She passed away in 1990 after a long illness. In March 1991 he married Linda Tiffany and became step-father to five more children: Wendy, Janeen, Karen, Joseph, and Jaimee. Albert loved his family wholeheartedly. He would brag that he was the father of 21 and he honored that role. He served faithfully in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He mostly loved being a Boise Temple Worker for nearly 17 years, meeting new people, and making lasting friendships. Failing health through the years began restricting his physical ability to do many things he loved, especially attending church and family events. The past year he was on St. Luke’s Hospice and received wonderful tender care from them. Linda loved Albert and felt blessed to care for him around the clock to do anything to ease his suffering. They both began to realize that their days together were coming to a close and they accepted that with heavy hearts. Albert was preceded in death by his parents; brother; first wives; son-in-law, Kingsley Andrae; and grandson, Sean Andrae. Albert loved life, family, and his Savior with every fiber of his being and those who were around him felt a special peace, and unconditional love. Well done thou good and faithful servant.
