Wyatt
Thomas
d. Feb 3, 2025
Wyatt Austin Thomas was called Home to serve a heavenly mission on February 3, 2025. His earthly mission began on March 30, 2003, in Boise, Idaho. He was the third child and first son born to Willard and Marsha (Hunter) Thomas of Kuna. He was the 35th grandchild of LaVell and Kathleen (Mackley) Hunter (Kuna, ID) and the 14th grandchild of Patrick and Rose Ann (Butler) Thomas (Orem, UT).
Early in his life, he encountered many physical challenges that led to a diagnosis of monosomy 1p36 deletion syndrome. This syndrome had impacts on his hearing, vision, thyroid, development, and epilepsy. This syndrome has been known to cause heart problems for those affected, but for Wyatt, his heart was his strongest physical attribute.
His life was one of pure and Christlike love for all he met. Throughout his life, Wyatt touched the lives of countless people in the community, and Wyatt worked with many teachers, therapists, aides, and so many others, all of whom were wholly dedicated to helping him to improve and make progress in spite of many challenges he faced.
To know Wyatt was to love him, but more importantly, to know Wyatt was to be loved by him. It wasn't possible to work or live in close proximity to him without feeling a love that was more pure and divine than any other in this world.
Wyatt was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and interacted with many young men and women in the community through both the church and seminary programs. He shared his faith through quiet reverence at every opportunity and provided comfort and support in many situations.
Wyatt's favorite things to do included swinging in the park or in the doorway of his home and listening to music, often singing along with gusto. He wasn't one to keep his opinions to himself, and though he didn't speak in words, he often shared his feelings quite openly. For example, during a stake conference one day, his father was trying to share the armrest on Wyatt's wheelchair; Wyatt gave him a very blatant look before pushing his dad's arm off the armrest. Further attempts to share the armrest were met with the same response.
He also shared his happy feelings as well, and when each of his older sisters was married, he shared very tender and heartfelt feelings with the family and friends gathered at their luncheons, commanding the room with a reverence that was palpable and words that were felt in ways that couldn't be heard.
Wyatt was preceded in death by his aunt Mary Woodbury in 2010 and grandfather Patrick Thomas in 2023. He is survived by his parents, Willard and Marsha Thomas; sister Mackenzie Christensen (Ammon) and nephews Andrew, Peter, and Matthew; sister Madison Jensen (Shad); brother Weston Thomas; unofficial sister Sammie (Hamilton) Smith; grandparents Rose Ann Thomas and LaVell and Kathleen Hunter, as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A viewing will be held from 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Friday, February 14, 2025, at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd, Nampa, ID. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, February 15, 2025, at The Kuna Stake Center, 3305 W Kuna Rd, Kuna, ID. Graveside service will conclude at Kuna Cemetery.
