Violet
Pooley
Nov 12, 1934 — Feb 27, 2026
Violet Marie (Ethridge) Pooley of Nampa, ID, passed away peacefully on February 27th, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family, at the age of 91. Born on November 12th, 1934, one of 10 children of William Melvin Ethridge and Anna Lola (Nelson) Ethridge in Exeter, Missouri. Violet married Howard Lee Pooley on December 12th, 1953. She was a devoted mother, wife, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose kindness and strong spirit left a lasting imprint on everyone who knew her. She is now reunited with her beloved husband, Howard Pooley, with whom she shared 58 beautiful years of marriage.
Violet graduated from Wheaton High School, which was 7 miles from Exeter, Missouri. She moved to the Boise area in 1952, where her father worked for the Union Pacific Railroad; the rest of her family soon followed. She was proud to have worked at the first Albertsons in Idaho, Kalbus Office Supply, Idaho State School and Hospital, and Mercy Medical Center. Reflecting her strong work ethic, she carried that same dedication into her home and family life. Beyond her work, Violet was deeply dedicated to serving her church. She faithfully served as a Cub Scout den leader and as a primary secretary, roles she embraced with love and dedication. Her hobbies were sewing, bowling, and golfing.
Violet is survived by her five loving children and their spouses: Carmen Marie (Russell) Hartley, Harlan Wayne (Marti) Pooley, Bruce Steven (Karen) Pooley, Barbara Ann (Douglas) Wade, and Alan Eugene (Karen) Pooley; a sister and her husband, Anita Fern (Kevin) Farrow of Arizona; 21 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. Her children were her greatest joy, and she poured her heart into raising them with wisdom and patience, teaching them the value of hard work and unconditional love.
Violet was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Lee Pooley; three sisters, Geneva Blanche Post, Lola Bernice Rybka, and Joyce Ann Babcock; and five brothers, Billy Jean, Joe Lawrence, William Edward, Marvin Leo, and John Robert.
Violet will be remembered for her gentle spirit, servant's heart, and the steady comfort of her presence. Though she will be deeply missed, we find peace in knowing she is reunited with her husband, Howard, and resting in the arms of the Lord. Her legacy of love, faith, and service will live on for generations to come.
The funeral service will be on March 10th, with viewing at 10:00 and service at 11:00, held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 18463 Northside Blvd., Nampa, Idaho. We will then proceed to Kohlerlawn Cemetery, after which we will return to the church to meet with family and friends.
