Vernon
Fisher
Jan 7, 1936 — May 14, 2026
Vernon Orville "Vern" Fisher, 90, of Meridian, Idaho, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026.
Vern was born on January 7, 1936, in Burley, Idaho, to Charles McCray Fisher and Zelda DeGraw Fisher. He was the fifth of seven children and spent his youth in southern Idaho and eastern Oregon, growing up in Heyburn and attending school in Wendell, Idaho, as well as Union, Oregon. In his later years, he completed training at ITT Technical Institute.
Vern proudly served in the United States Army National Guard and was a lifelong member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. As a young man, he served a mission to Canada.
Vern married Rita Fisher, with whom he had seven children: Linda DeMoss, Patricia Webster, Ronald G. Fisher, Debi Low, David Fisher (Heather), Adam Fisher (Anne), and Steven Fisher (Vanessa). They later divorced, and Vern relocated to the Treasure Valley, where he remained for the rest of his life.
Vern married Fran Fisher on December 18, 1999, and they were later sealed in the House of the Lord. They enjoyed many years of companionship together. Fran preceded him in death, as did his parents and all but one of his siblings.
Vern worked as a test technician at Micron for many years. He made Kuna, Idaho, his home. During the last few years of his life, he lived in Meridian, Idaho, at the Creekside care facility where he was loved by both residents and staff and where he spent much of his time tending a garden that would come to be known as "Vern's Garden."
Vern enjoyed many hobbies throughout his life, including hunting, fishing, camping, automotive repair, gardening, photography, and computers. He was curious, intelligent, and mechanically minded, often happiest when working with his hands.
Vern is survived by his children and their spouses, as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his brother Lloyd, and many others whose lives were shaped by knowing him.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 23, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the Kuna 10th Ward Chapel, 313 East Deer Flat Road, Kuna, Idaho. A viewing will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the chapel. Interment will follow at Kuna Cemetery in Kuna, Idaho.
