Obituary

Vern Edward Shaver was born in Bakersfield, California, on January 18th, 1942, and passed away on February 22nd, 2026. His mother, Esther Louise Brittian, and his father, George Alfonzo Shaver, both deceased, moved him shortly after he was born to Buhl, Idaho.

He graduated from Buhl High School and attended 2 years of college in Pocatello, Idaho, to become a draftsman. He worked for Western Electric and Idaho Power.

He loved sports, especially baseball, and played on the baseball team for Idaho Power. Vern loved the outdoors and discovered he did not want to be cooped up in a building and ended up working as a construction superintendent until he retired. Vern loved hunting and old cars and spent years working on his '58 Chevy pickup. Had many Broncos he played with after he retired; Vern bought Broncos, fixed them up, and sold them. Vern worked in many states, and after he lost his brother David, he returned to Idaho. Vern married Norma Lee and worked in the construction end of Simplot, and they made their residence in Nampa, Idaho.

Vern is survived by his wife, Norma Lee; his son, Kevin, and wife, Shannon; daughter, Gina, and husband, Darin; and son, Kam, and wife, Connie. Grandchildren Ryler, Kathen, Auston, Sabreena, Zach, and Marissa; twelve great-grandchildren; and his sister Karma and her husband, Mel.

You could always find Vern, the tall cowboy, in a crowd because he never went anywhere without his cowboy boots and his cowboy hat. Vern will be missed; however, Vern will always be remembered.
