Velica Dembi, a light to all who knew and loved her, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 due to respiratory failure at the age of 83. Velica was born on April 7, 1941 in Beidaud, Romania to Stere Culus and Dafina Balamuti. Velica grew up in Dobrogea as the youngest of 4 children, met the love of her life, Mihai Dembi, and settled in Bucharest, Romania to raise a family. Velica emigrated with her family to Anaheim, CA in 1979 where they lived until 2017 when Velica and Mihai relocated to Nampa, Idaho to be near family. She was a loving homemaker, talented seamstress, and exceptionally gifted in the arts of knitting and crochet. She was a fabulous cook who loved to gather recipes she would use to entertain family and friends alike. Her kind smile, always at the ready, never met a stranger. A happy disposition so contagious, her mere presence would uplift and spark joy in all of those around her. Velica faithfully served and loved the Lord and looked forward to spending eternity in Heaven; reuniting with Mihai, her devoted husband of 60 years, who died on Wednesday, August 19, 2020. Velica is survived by her 3 children, Marian Dembi, Nicoleta Dembi, and Doris Dembi; 4 grandchildren, Tanya Flonta, Danny Flonta (Breana Neil), Madison Ingrassano, and Luciano Ingrassano; and 4 great-grandchildren, Karston Reeves, Korbin Flonta, Kenzlie Flonta, and Kaison Flonta. Both her grandchildren and great-grandchildren lovingly know her as "Mamaia" and will miss her dearly. Our world is now a whole lot dimmer, but Heaven is shining bright. Funeral service will be held on Friday, December 13, 6-8pm at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd. Nampa, Idaho. Graveside service will be Saturday, December 14, at 1pm at Kohlerlawn Cemetery, 76 6th Street North Nampa, Idaho.
