Obituary

Steve Aldrich was born in Nampa, Idaho, on February 13, 1939, to Kenneth and Phoebe Aldrich. Growing up, Steve developed his love of working on cars and trucks, which he then may have used for a bit of teenage mischief. He also loved to work on the family farm, which he did until he was called to serve in the Army, during the Cuban missile crisis. After serving years in the Army, he met and fell in love with Norma, also from Nampa. Norma was a beautiful widow with 2 daughters, Christine and Gayle. They brought a new and exciting chapter to Steve's life that he loved and cherished. After 8 years of marriage, Steve and Norma welcomed their 3rd daughter, Janice. The adventure became even more exciting. Steve provided a wonderful life for his family. Weekends were filled with camping trips where he taught them (and one day his grandchildren) to ride motorcycles and how to roast the perfect marshmallow. He also loved to take long Sunday drives to the mountains, or more often, to a car lot to check out what was new, and then he would get everyone a hamburger and an ice cream or a trip to Taco Bell. Steve had a long work history that involved many different interesting professions. He worked on a feedlot, he did auto body work, auto painting, painting farm machinery, and washed milk tankers. Steve loved to work in the yard with Norma. They sculpted their backyards into beautiful havens filled with lush greenery, gorgeous rockscapes, plenty of trees to climb, and a garden that was always producing enough to share. As well as the best feature, a bunch of family there to share laughter, BBQ, and memories. Steve was an incredible loving man who wanted to help those around him. He was always warm and welcoming with a shy smile, and always ready to lend a hand to do even the smallest of tasks. Steve was soft-spoken and kind, with a wonderful sense of humor. He was expressive and thoughtful. He loved to start his day with a good cup of coffee, and reading the newspaper. Steve passed away on February 27, 2025, at the age of 86. He was surrounded by his three daughters and all the extended family. He was loved more than words can say. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Norma; his parents; and sister, Darlene. Thirteen days after Steve passed, his brother, Ken, passed away. He is survived in death by his 3 daughters, Christine Tallent of Caldwell, Gayle Pickens (Jay) of Boise, and Janice Montoya (Vincent) of Caldwell; along with 10 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. You will be missed, Da'.
