Obituary

Sterling Edwin Burton died Thursday July 29, 2023, at 3:00 a.m. in his home due to diabetic kidney failure. He was a lifetime civil servant in the Idaho Air National Guard, during which he served briefly behind the lines at Desert Storm. He retired in 1993. He was a member of the Optimist Club and volunteered as a Little League coach. After retiring, he fulfilled a lifetime dream of driving long haul truck. Sterling is survived by his sisters Melody Burton and Karen Merrell; his brothers Daryl and Vaughn; two daughters; one grandson; and a multitude of extended family.

A short graveside service for Sterling will be held at 1:00 p.m. on September 2nd, 2023, at Greenleaf Cemetery (21000-21052 Simplot Blvd, Greenleaf, Idaho). The service will also be broadcast online for those who wish to attend but cannot attend in person (please see attached funeral service information).

A potluck will be held after the service at 2pm at Greenleaf Friends Academy dining hall (20565 Academy Rd., Greenleaf, Idaho). Hall space is limited, so please RSVP to Pamela Burton (1-208-860-0148), if you wish to attend and let her know what dish you will be bring.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations in Sterling's name to the National Kidney Foundation or to the American Diabetes Association,
