Stanley Melvin
Chadwick
Jun 27, 1941 — Dec 12, 2025
Stanley Melvin Chadwick passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, in Nampa, Idaho. He was born on June 27, 1941, in Toronto, Canada, to Noel Chadwick and Myrtle Glass, the eldest of four children. In 1959, Stanley moved with his family to California and became a United States citizen in 1962. He was deeply proud of his American citizenship while never losing his affection for his Canadian roots—remaining a "proud Canuck" for his entire life. He graduated from La Puente High School in La Puente, California, and later earned a degree from Pasadena City College in Pasadena. Stanley honorably served in the United States Air Force from 1962 to 1968 as a radio operator and was a Vietnam War veteran. Following his military service, he settled in California's Antelope Valley. His adventurous spirit later led him to live in Washington, Alaska, and ultimately Nampa, Idaho, to be closer to his son, Scott Chadwick. He worked for many years as a pressman for the Los Angeles Times and later the Seattle Times. For a time, Stanley also owned Hi Desert Custom Vans in Lancaster, California. Among his belongings were several cherished pieces of memorabilia from the business, reflecting fond memories of that chapter of his life. Stanley was married to his first wife, Janet M. Giffin, from 1960 to 1980 in Los Angeles, California. He was later married to Tami Blair for several years. In 1998, he married Sheryl D. Peterson in Skagit, Washington. They shared a deep and devoted love until Sheryl's passing in April 2025. Stanley lived a simple life and found joy in simple pleasures — the companionship of his wife and their two dogs, time spent with his son and daughter-in-law, Scott and Carolyn Chadwick of Nampa, Idaho, and frequent phone calls with his sister, Diane Moore of Tacoma, Washington, and his cousin, Elaine Coburn of Toronto, Canada. Even at 84, he remained active, enjoying daily outings and walks, feeding wildlife in his backyard, and tending his garden. He took immense pride and joy in his grandchildren and great-granddaughter. He especially loved sharing updates about Lauren's growing family and developing career, Grant's achievement of earning his BSA Eagle Scout rank and his pursuit of becoming a commercial pilot, and Ford being "this close" to earning his Eagle Scout rank and his promising future. Recently, Stanley fulfilled a lifelong dream of traveling to London, England, to visit the grave of his uncle, Stanley Chadwick, who fought in World War II. He was accompanied by his daughter, Sandee Fosberg; his son, Scott Chadwick; and his grandson, Ford Fosberg. His family is deeply grateful to have shared that meaningful experience with him. Stanley is survived by his daughter, Sandee Fosberg (Troy); his son, Scott Chadwick (Carolyn); granddaughter, Lauren Chadwick Velez (Daniel); grandsons, Grant and Ford Fosberg; great-granddaughter, Wren Velez; and Stepsons, Walter Chavez and Virgil Chavez. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sheryl Chadwick, and his parents, Noel and Myrtle Chadwick. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
