Shirley
Taylor
Jan 27, 1932 — May 2, 2026
Shirley Ann Jacobs Taylor was born January 27th, 1932, in Jacksonville, Florida, to Charles Henry Jacobs and Sallie Mae Herring Jacobs. She has one sister, JoAnn. She finished her high school education at Robert E. Lee High School in Jacksonville. Shirley married Bill Taylor, as she said the "only man she loved," on March 11th, 1951. She loved being a devoted wife and mother. She gave life to 6 children: Bill, Larry, Sallie, Chuck, Richard, and Julie. Her legacy now has grown to 74 grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She felt it was a blessing and a luxury to be able to stay at home and raise each of them. After her children were raised, Shirley volunteered her time to the Civic Center Auxiliary, West Valley Hospital Chaplin, Salvation Army, Republican Woman's Club, Nampa Women's Century Club, Veterans Hall Caldwell, Republican Central Committee, Precinct Chairman, and District Chairman. I am sure we missed some! She traveled to many Republican presidential conventions, heading up the delegates for the State of Idaho. Above all, she was a woman of faith. Her dedication to her Heavenly Father and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was her most important calling in life. She lived the gospel and felt the blessings of the comfort of her Savior. She and Bill traveled to the Baltics, Hong Kong, and Britain for 3 church missions in their later years together. Shirley is survived by her living children Bill, Sallie, Chuck, Richard, and Julie and a host of other family members and friends. Shirley Ann Jacobs Taylor passed away on May 2nd, 2026, after a brief illness. Her last 3 years of life were a challenge after suffering a stroke that left her dependent on others for her care. Shirley brought people together with her countless parties; her Summer Nights, Game Nights, Empty Nesters, and annual Christmas Parties all through the month of December were exciting for all those who attended. She continued these parties and get-togethers even in the "Grace" home until the very end. There are two important things to remember about Shirley and the impact that she had on so many. First, after her stroke and having to move to assisted living, if asked how she was doing, she would say, "I bloom where I am planted." How true is this statement. Second, she showed us all by her example the meaning of service to others, as she made it her motto to always serve and help others in need. Thank you for showing us this everyday of your long 94-year life...you are loved and will be missed. Funeral service will be Monday, May 18th, 2026, 10:00am, 3015 S. Kimball Avenue, Caldwell, Idaho.
