Obituary

Shaun Gneiting, 56, passed away Saturday, November 8th, 2025 at St. Alphonsus in Boise Idaho after health complications.

Shaun was born August 22, 1969 to Cheryl and Gaylon Gneiting at the Fort Ord base in Monterey, California.

Shaun grew up in Shelley Idaho where he received his education. He graduated from Shelley High School, then continued his education at Idaho State University. There, he received his Associate Degree in Applied Sciences in 1996. Throughout his lifetime, he also lived in Germany, Sioux Falls South Dakota, Soda Springs, Idaho Falls, Grace, and Nampa Idaho.

He married Brandy (Nelson) Kimber in Soda Springs, Idaho on July 18th, 1992 and had four children, Shandi, Jaron, Austen, and Natasha. Shaun and Brandy divorced in 2011.

On October 28th, 2012, he married Kim (Kingan) Gneiting in Nampa Idaho and gained two daughters, Megan and Sarah.

Shaun was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served faithfully in the Primary, Nursery, Activities Committee, as a Sunday School teacher, Elder's Quorum Teacher, Ward Missionary, and Usher.

He worked as a Mechanical Designer and was fluent in Inventor, AutoCAD and several other CAD design platforms. He worked for 8 years at GME (now Vanmark) designing and drafting food cutting and processing machinery and systems installations into plants world-wide. He then worked for 9 years designing diesel-electric locomotives at MotivePower. In his last 11 years of life, Shaun worked at Micron in Boise, Idaho, as a Structural Designer.

From an early age, Shaun showed remarkable talent and creativity. He had a spark—an unmistakable zest for life that drew people in and made everyone feel like an old friend. He truly never knew a stranger. His laughter filled every room, and his creativity colored every corner of his world. His passion for music was well known among all who knew him. You could often find him playing the guitar (acoustic or electric) and the drums, jamming out to music, drawing, telling stories, eating his wife's cooking, and spending time with his family.

Shaun will be missed by his wife of 13 years, Kim Gneiting; children Shandi (Andrew) Horton, Megan, Jaron, Sarah, Austen, and Natasha; his father Gaylon Gneiting, Step-Mother Nancy Gneiting, his siblings Daren (Jory), Alauna, Gina (Rick), and Ryan (Alicia); and his 4 grandchildren, Everett, Rindi, Rand, and Robbie.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Cheryl Gneiting; and grandparents Dona Coy Poole Jensen, James Everett Jensen, Ronald Wayne Gneiting, and LaRue Verle Gneiting.

Those who knew him will remember his warmth, his humor, and the way he made life feel lighter just by being present. He worked hard, loved deeply, cared freely, and lived authentically—never afraid to be exactly who he was and invited everyone to his table just as they were. He spent a lifetime serving others and being an example of Christlike love. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
