Scott A
Anderson
Jun 12, 1945 — Dec 12, 2025
Scott A. Anderson, 80, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, December 12, 2025, in Nampa, Idaho. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 20, 2025; viewing will be at 10:00am, and the service at 11:00am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, 927 Ruth Ln, Nampa, ID 83686.
Scott was born to Oscar Alma Anderson and Mary Lottie Ashby on June 12, 1945. He was raised in Fillmore, Utah, as the caboose of 8 children. Scott enjoyed running around his father's chicken farm with his dog, Rex, and hunting with his many cousins, friends, and nephews. After his mother passed when he was 11 years old, his father remarried, and he formed a close relationship with his stepmom, Lenora.
Following high school, Scott served a two-year mission for the LDS church in Argentina. A year of that mission was spent playing in a band, The Los Mormon Boys, where Scott played the trumpet. They toured throughout Argentina teaching the gospel through music. After his time with the band, Scott served as assistant to his mission president, Richard G. Scott. They remained friends until President Scott's passing.
Upon returning from his mission, Scott set off for college at the University of Utah. There he received his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. Following graduation, he accepted a position at Dow Chemical, relocating to Midland, Michigan, for a few years, then settling in Antioch, California, where he remained for 45 years. Scott retired from Dow Chemical in 2003, after being there 33 years.
During retirement, Scott just couldn't sit still and became the Executive Director of the Industrial Association of Contra Costa County, where he remained for 14 years.
This time retiring for good, Scott spent his days with his good buddy Max, a tiny Shih Tzu-Maltese mix, reading out back with the windchimes blowing; countless hours in the garage building desks, cabinets, cradles, and entertainment centers; and spending time with his beloved wife, Lorraine.
Scott and Lorraine (and kids) spent many summers in Canada, enjoyed musical concerts, attended social events, hosted many parties in their home, snuggled, hugged, and held hands. They were each other's best friends and were married for 39 years.
Scott had many interests throughout his life. In addition to woodworking, he played golf, refurbished antique golf clubs, dabbled in stained glass, and collected guns and knives. He dug and built a swimming pool and loved history and music. A very talented piano player, he played piano and organ for church. He was a lifelong gardener and enjoyed a good warm bath.
In 2019, after much thought (and probably a game of rock-paper-scissors), they decided to move away from the hustle of California to Idaho to be closer to family. Moving in just a few months before COVID hit, they were still able to find a community that they grew close to and thrived in.
In June of 2025, Scott was diagnosed with two different types of leukemia, one treatable, one not. Scott was able to enjoy a surprise 80th birthday party that summer. In late November, after the family had been together for Thanksgiving, blood tests showed the cancer had turned acute. He passed peacefully at home less than two weeks later.
Scott is survived and deeply missed by his adoring wife, Lorraine Louise Anderson; five of his six children, Vincent (Shauna), Elliott (Heather), Courtney (Nathan), Sabrina, and Amber; his grandchildren Sierra, Danny, Zoe, Loren (Stella), Laina, Emma (Chase), Jake, Lydia, Tate, Tanner (Shiela), Noah, Sawyer, Shaylee, Avery, Levi, and Asher; his brother, Oscar Anderson; his two pups, Gizmo and Gadgette; and kitty Buckwheat. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Gina, and his parents and siblings.
