Santos (Sandy) C. Hernandez, 85, went home to be with our Heavenly Father on Sunday, May 31, 2026. She was surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on July 28, 1940, to Amalya and Nazario Cantu in Beaumont, Texas. Sandy had her two boys, Jesse and Frank Gonzales, from a first marriage. She then met Gilbert Zamudio; together they had 6 children. They migrated to Idaho in 1968. She was a homemaker for 19 years. Sandy then went to work for Simplot for 15 years. She had a love for gardening and cooking for big family gatherings. She loved houseplants and flowers. In the 1900s Sandy married Antonio Hernandez. Sandy loved her trips to Jackpot with her daughter's playing bingo, lotteria, or just scratching lottery tickets. She loved music and watching novellas! Sandy always loved joking with her great-grandkids and her great-great-grandkids. Six-Seven! Sandy will be greatly missed by her family; she was the light of our castle. The amount of love we had for our mom, grandma, great-grandma, and great-great-grandma is endless." Sandy is preceded in death by her parents; brothers Luciano, Perfecto, Agapito, and Albert; sisters Lorenza, Mary M., and Dominga; granddaughters Maryanne (Flaca) Gallegos and Isabella (Bella) Gonzales; and her two sons Adam Zamudio and Frank Gonzales. Sandy is survived by her children, Jesse (Billie) Gonzales, Rosario Zamudio, Angie Zamudio, and Christy Zamudio, as well as her siblings Mary, Virginia, and Billy. Sandy had many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
