Ruth Ann
Willard
d. Feb 10, 2025
Ruth Ann Willard, 85, of Nampa, ID, beloved mother, sister and grandmother, left us on Monday, February 10, 2025, her mother's birthday. She was born on May 9, 1939, in Salt Lake City, UT, the daughter of the late Howard Willard and Faye Harman Willard. Ruth was a beacon of kindness and love.
She was the heart of our family and raised three children: Debra Ann Hughes, David William Hughes and Douglas Michael Hughes in a loving home. Our mother modeled generosity and kindness to her children and also knew how to have a good laugh. Ruth was married twice in her life. Her first marriage to Barry A. Hughes ended in divorce after 22 years. She would later marry Keith Ikerd. Both preceded her in death.
She was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved reading scriptures and all things LDS. Spending time with friends and family was a joy to her and she was quick to appreciate the humor in life. She was a caring person, devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Ruth was always thinking of others first. "To know her was to love her." She loved music and singing and had a beautiful alto voice. All types of animals were nurtured by her and she cared for many in her life. Ruth also loved to cook and spoil her loved ones with goodies … all from scratch, of course! Her life was a mosaic of cherished moments, each piece a story of the love she gave and the grace she carried.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, Barry A. Hughes and Keith Ikerd. She leaves behind her adored brother, Roy (Helen) Willard of Salt Lake City, UT; children: Debra A. Hughes of Chehalis, WA, David W. (Linda) Hughes of Caldwell, ID and Douglas M. Hughes of San Francisco, CA; beloved only grandson, David Michael Hughes of Chehalis, WA.; many beloved ward members and especially her devoted friend, LeAnn Cleverly.
Let us remember Ruth with smiles and celebrate the impact she had on our lives.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am, Monday, February 17, 2025, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 1500 Smith Ave, Nampa ID. Graveside service will conclude at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 15862 Indiana Ave, Caldwell, ID.
"Though the pain of parting may be great, the love we shared will forever remain in our hearts."
