Rollie
Mcclain
Jan 29, 1939 — Sep 13, 2025
Rollie Johnny McClain, known to most as John, passed away peacefully on September 13, 2025, in Boise, Idaho. He was born in Eugene, Oregon, to Lucy Jane Walters and Rollie M. McClain.
John grew up between Oregon and southern Idaho, where he spent much of his time outdoors with his beloved dog, Mugs, who was always up for an adventure. He attended several schools around the Treasure Valley and graduated from Notus High School before proudly serving in the U.S. military. He was honorably discharged in May of 1963, shortly after returning from his service in South Korea.
John married Edna Lee early in life and later found love again with Arvada Lynn, who passed away in 2013.
A longtime resident of Bowmont, Idaho, since 2001, John was a man who loved the land. He worked as a potato farmer, equipment operator, and truck driver. But what truly brought him joy was spending time outdoors, camping, fishing, trail riding, and sharing those experiences with his family and friends. He especially loved teaching children how to live off the land and telling stories around the campfire. His yard was always a point of pride, and he had a passion for restoring old cars.
John was a proud Presbyterian and a man of faith. He was quick with a joke, generous with his time, and happiest when surrounded by those he loved.
He is survived by his daughters, Tammy Kolsky (Keith Hobbs) and Vanessa Burril (John Burril), and son, Johnny McClain (Sara McClain). He was preceded in death by his daughter Tracie Lubacy, two sisters, and one brother.
