Obituary

Robert M. (Bob) Taylor passed away Friday, March 20, 2026, in Nampa, Idaho, at the age of 83. Bob was born July 4, 1942, in Menan, Idaho, the only child of Mary Shippen and William M. Taylor. He grew up in Boise, Idaho, where he made many lifelong friends. He graduated from Borah High School and attended Brigham Young University and the University of Utah Medical School. He married Susan Warner on June 20, 1969, in the Salt Lake LDS temple. Bob was an anesthesiologist at West Valley Medical Center in Caldwell, Idaho, for 35 years. The family loved living in Caldwell and made many wonderful friends there. Bob was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served in many positions, including serving a mission to northern Florida as a young man. He was a gospel scholar and studied ancient history and philosophy in addition. He spent many years writing a treatise on the Atonement. Bob loved to play golf and played in many tournaments. He achieved several holes-in-one, closest-to-the-pin, and club championships. During downtime at the hospital, you'd find him out practicing his swing at the golf course across the road. Most of his travels abroad were to play golf at the great courses. He also liked to fish but rarely just went to the local rivers—he went to Alaska, Florida, Brazil, and Kamchatka, taking his dad and kids along for the great adventure. At home he buzzed around in his beloved little red Mercedes-Benz—until he wrecked it. He'd stay up late at night reading, listening to Willie Nelson and Frank Sinatra, eating Doritos and chocolate, or playing the piano. He lived a rich and full life in between several lengthy bouts of depression that plagued him for 40 years. Bob leaves behind his wife Susan and children: Maryanne (Jeff Larson), Casey (Jana), Clark (Atalie), and Craig (Zan) and 11 grandchildren: Brady, Jackson, Trenton, Olivia, Grace (Caleb), Ella, Kaylee, Tristan, Quinn, Jack, and Rusty. Names of "bonus" Ukwaththa children: Araliya, Amaya, Asher, and Adam. He also leaves behind a bonus family: Buddhi Ukwaththa and his wife Kristy and 4 children.

Services will be Saturday, March 28th, at 11:00am at the LDS chapel, 18346 Northside Blvd., Nampa, Idaho. There will be a viewing from 10:00 to 10:45 am that morning at the chapel. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Caldwell, Idaho, where his parents are buried.
