Obituary

Robert Earl Hutchison was born on 4/18/1936 to George Isaac Hutchinson and Frances "Crystal" Murdik in Clovis, New Mexico, and passed away peacefully on 10/29/2023 in Nampa, Idaho. Many know him as Earl, but those in Idaho knew him fondly as "Hutch." He grew up in New Mexico, Missouri, and Oklahoma and joined the Navy in 1955, landing at the Fallon Naval Air Base. While living in Fallon, he became an avid musician, sharing his love of music with all those around him. Hutch met his first wife, Verna "Peg" Clark and they married in 1956. Hutch and Peg shared a love of music until her passing in 1992. Hutch completed his service in the Navy and went to work for the Operating Engineers Union as an equipment operator. He retired from the union in 1995. In his free time, he continued to play music and took up the hobby of leather tooling. He made beautiful belts and guitar straps that he gifted to his family members. This family continues to proudly wear his custom belts that he lovingly made for each person. He enjoyed hunting, trap shooting, and collecting guns and rifles, for many of which he made custom leather tooled holsters. He met his second wife, Margaret A. Galvin, in Fallon, Nevada and they were married in 1995. He sold his house, bought a travel trailer, and traveled from Arizona to Idaho and New Mexico with his wife. They would spend winters in Parker Dam and the summers in Nevada and Idaho. He spent much of his time golfing with Marge and playing live music for his friends. Hutch and Marge eventually moved to Nampa, Idaho in 2009 to be closer to Marge's family. Hutch took exceptional care of Marge until her passing in 2015. Hutch remained active in his senior community, visiting with his neighbors, playing games, and strumming his guitar. He developed a special relationship with his neighbor, Linda. He cherished their time together sharing meals, taking each other to community events, playing games, and taking care of each other. Hutch loved visiting with his family. The highlight of many of his days would be showing off his latest leather projects, new guns, or his newest songs when they came to visit. Hutch was a kind and gentle man who will be missed by his loved ones, particularly his many stepchildren, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and anyone else who had the opportunity to know him. Hutch was preceded in death by his parents, his brother George Hutchison, and his sisters, Crystal Morris, Pearl Breeden, and Mary Lexi Marchman . He is survived by his brother, John "Rudy" Hutchison. Per his wishes, he has been cremated and will be buried in Grady, New Mexico near his family members. Funeral services will be held at the Living Stones Nazarene Church in Clovis, New Mexico on December 2, 2023, at 10 a.m. with graveside services to follow at the Grady Cemetery in Grady, New Mexico.
