Robert Lee (Bob) Huston Sr, 89, of Nampa, ID passed away on Tuesday January 2, 2024, at his residence. Bob was born in South Bend, Indiana on May 15, 1934, to Charles Newton Huston and Louise Allena (Lena) Huston (Whetstone) he was the second oldest of 10 siblings. Bob was a strong man in many ways, opinionated and always determined to succeed in life. He was a husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Bob grew up in Indiana and South Carolina before enlisting in the Air Force in 1950 where he experienced adventure in Casablanca, England, and Alaska. Bob Married Dorothy Strychase in Chicago, Illinois in 1955 and they were blessed with three children before leaving Savannah, Georgia to return to England for a second time. Bob returned to the United States and was stationed at Craig AF base in Selma, Alabama, he then retired from the USAF after 20 years of service. After retirement, Bob moved the family to Boise, Idaho where he had a variety of jobs. He was employed as a guard at the Idaho State Penitentiary, an officer with the Ada County Sheriff and a volunteer officer with the Kuna police department. Bob enjoyed law enforcement and his goal was to become a Trooper with the Idaho State Police. He achieved his goal and became known as ISP 463. He retired from ISP after 18 years of service as a corporal. After his retirement, Bob ran for Canyon County Sheriff but was not elected. Bob then took full advantage of his retirement and often enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, and cooking. Before his death Bob was able to connect with his oldest son, Lawrence. Bob is survived by his children: Lawrence, Robert Jr.( Kathy), Barbara, Frances (Tom); sisters, Carol, Carolyn, and Ruth; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Lena; brothers Max, Donald, and Alva; sisters Maxine and Patsy. Bob requested no service be held but a celebration of life will be planned in the future. In lieu of flowers we ask that donations be made to the Idaho Peace Officers Association or the Idaho State Police Association.
