In Loving Memory of Robert “Bob” Andrew Ashbrook II

Robert “Bob” Andrew Ashbrook II, a proud Army veteran, devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away on September 5, 2026, in Boise, Idaho, at the age of 75.

Bob was born on September 21, 1950, in Troy, Ohio, the oldest of five children. He spent his younger years growing up in Ohio and California, where some of his fondest memories included visiting his grandparents' farm and playing baseball.

Bob proudly dedicated 26 years of his life to the United States Army, serving his country with honor and distinction. His military career included serving as a Command Sergeant Major in the Army National Guard. After his military service, Bob continued his commitment to serving others, working with the Housing Authority. He was also deeply involved with the Disabled American Veterans (DAV), where he served as Commander-in-Chief.

In 1990, Bob married the love of his life, Elma Ashbrook. Their wedding was as memorable as Bob himself—they were married on a tank, a fitting tribute to a man whose life was so closely tied to his military service.

Outside of work and the military, Bob had plenty of passions. He loved fishing, collecting coins, baseball, football, and NASCAR. But perhaps his favorite pastime was taking his grandchildren fishing. Those trips created memories that will be treasured by his family for generations.

Bob was a man who could be gruff, stubborn, and a little bit grumpy, but those who knew him best knew there was a big heart underneath it all. He had a way of saying exactly what he thought, and his family will undoubtedly miss his opinions, his stories, his sense of humor, and all those little things that made him uniquely Bob.

He leaves behind his beloved wife, Elma, and his children Robert, Nicole, Minda, Johnna, Emily, and Keoni, along with 17 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He also leaves behind a brother Buddy, extended family, friends, and countless people whose lives were touched by his service and friendship.

Bob leaves behind a legacy of service, family, strength, and memories. His love of fishing, his pride in his military service, and the time he spent with his grandchildren will live on through the generations.

Rest easy, Bob. Your watch is over.
