Obituary

Pearl Ann Young returned home to her Heavenly Father, April 5, 2023, surrounded by her family. Pearl was born December 30, 1921, to George Henry and Maida Selena (Oakey) Sparks. She was born and grew up on Lone Star Road in Nampa, Idaho, and died only 3 miles from where she was born.

She had a wonderful childhood, growing up on a farm, close to cousins and friends. She met her sweetheart, John O Young, Jr, in high school. They married in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on November 9, 1945, and made their home in Nampa. They raised 9 children and spent 70 busy years together.

Mom loved everyone. She was kind and welcoming to all. Her greatest joy was her family. She spent endless hours worrying, serving and caring about us. She was always doing special things for us from buying a Bosch mixer to make bread, to rubbing our feet.

She did many things to help our large family. Her many jobs varied from dental assistant to retail to being a para at Sunnyridge school. She enjoyed those years at the school.

Jesus Christ was mom's center. She loved him and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. She taught all around her in word and deed of His goodness. She served in many callings. She and Dad served two missions. The Singapore Mission, where they were some of the 1st missionaries in Hyderabad, India. They spent 6 months each in India, Malaysia, and Indonesia. The 2nd was the Puerto Rico Mission where they spent 18 months on the island of St. Thomas.

She was preceded in death by her husband, daughter Jayna , and son John Sparks Young, 3 great-granddaughters, Marissa Eileen Carle, Esther Ruth LaVonne Young, Konner Laree Kipper, sisters Selena Marie Cameron, Lou Estell Gardner, brother George Calvin Sparks and son-in-law David Vaun Kipper.

She is survived by her daughters, Janeen Kipper (David), Julieann Andrews (David), Jolynn Peterson (Bruce), Jorjette Bostrom (Lamont), Jody Morris (Scott), sons, James Kenneth (Ginny) and Jeffrey Allen Young (Debbie), 41 grandchildren, 106 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great grandchildren.

We would like to thank Horizon Home Health Care & Hospice for the tender loving care she received for a year, especially Sharon and Loretta.
