Max Henry Jr. passed away at his residence after a short illness, on January 4th, 2024, at the age of 94. Max was born to Max Henry Sr. and Rachel Fern Bainey, in Pratt Kansas, on December 2nd, 1929. Max graduated from Jerome High School, class of 1948. Following graduation, Max went on to join the United States Navy, from 1948 to 1952, where he served in the Korean War. After the war, he married Lois Jones, and they settled in Filer, Idaho. Max owned and operated the Courtesy Market, and Max's IGA Grocery stores for 30 years in Filer. Max and Lois raised their family there of three sons, and one daughter, and recently celebrated 71 years of marriage. Max loved fishing and water skiing at Salmon Dam, and fishing on the Magic Reservoir. Max also enjoyed hunting with his sons and loved his hunting dogs. After selling the Grocery store, Max and Lois enjoyed travelling, cooking, and trying new recipes together. Not quite ready to retire, they moved to Olympia WA, where they managed a large apartment complex. They then moved to Stayton, OR, and eventually back to their home state of Idaho, residing in Nampa. Max and Lois worked side by side for many years and were fortunate to have enjoyed 30 years of retirement together. Max took up the hobby of gardening both vegetables and flowers, creating beautiful, lush, backyards. Max is preceded in death by his parents, and three sisters, Pat Simpson, Dorothy Shields, and Joanna Henry. He is survived by his wife Lois, whom he adored every day. Also surviving is his sister Melissa Henry of Portland, OR; brother-in-law, Ira Price, of San Diego, CA.; along with his son Jeffery Henry and daughter-in-law Denise Henry of Nampa, ID; daughter Pamela Patterson of Orem, UT; son Scott Henry of Eagle, ID; and son Mark Henry of Hawthorne NV. Surviving are 11 Grandchildren: Emily, Jeff, Heather, Laura, Janie, Shane, Tyler, Parker, Brett, Taylor, Josh; 17 Great Grandchildren, and 2 Great, Great, Grandchildren, with another, very soon to bless this world. The family will be having a Celebration of Life Ceremony at an undetermined time and place. Per Max's request, there will not be any services.
