Matthew Evans Purcell, age 68, of Nampa, Idaho, passed away on January 2, 2025. He was born on August 2, 1956, to Robert Bernard Purcell and Patricia Margaret Evans.

He was a dedicated orthopedic technician known for his innovative spirit, having invented a pulley setup for traction to help patients sit up comfortably.

Matthew married Donna Marie on September 27, 1975, after a memorable blind date. The couple celebrated their love with a honeymoon in Yosemite, setting the tone for a life filled with adventure and joy. Together, they built a family and shared countless cherished moment.

Matthew was a man of many passions, enjoying riding his motorcycle, sailing, surfing, and playing the drums. He had a deep appreciation for music, often attending concerts, and had a particular fondness for drive-in movies and camping under the stars. His love for the desert mountains was evident, as he spent time exploring their beauty.

A jokester at heart, Matthew brought laughter and light into the lives of those around him. He was a devoted Catholic whose faith was an important part of his life. He leaves behind a legacy of love, humor, and innovation that will not be forgotten. Matthew is survived by his son, Joel Purcell; daughter, Christy Purcell; grandchildren; Kura Patterson, Donovin Dickerson, Joel Purcell II, Madison Jensen, Kayden Russell, Robert Russell, and Cort Purcell; and great grandchild, Marley Patterson.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm, Thursday, January 23, 2025, at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd, Nampa, ID. Graveside service will conclude at Kohlerlawn Cemetery, 76 6th St N, Nampa, ID.
