Margie Davenport was born on November 4, 1936 in Rexburg, Idaho to Vivian and Grace Roberts Davenport. She was an accomplished pianist and started accompanying her father, a well-known singer, at the age of ten. Her family lived in many small towns across southern Idaho, including: Emmett, Hagerman, St. Anthony, Carey, Heman, and Gooding. She spent many happy days with her more than 70 first cousins. When she was in the seventh grade, her family moved to Gooding. There she met her nemesis and future husband, Philip. Their fierce rivalry included him painting her name on the railroad bridge and her beating him out for student body vice president. She graduated from Gooding High School and attended Brigham Young University, where she continued to study piano. Margie married Philip on December 27, 1957 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They went on to have six children. She cooked, sewed, baked, and taught piano lessons while raising intense and wildly varied children. Margie was a devoted wife and mother. Her greatest joy was her six children, and then grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She had a special love for all her nieces and nephews as well. She taught them the love of the Lord and the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many leadership positions, including Relief Society president, temple worker and organist. She was a teacher in the Primary and Young Women organizations and used her amazing musical talents to lead choirs and accompany on piano and organ. She served as a missionary in the Canada Vancouver Mission, where she made many lifelong friends, particularly in Nanaimo. She also served a mission at the Boise Institute of Religion. She was proud of her hardworking pioneer heritage and passed on those lessons of faith, fierceness, and enduring to the end. Margie taught piano lessons most of her life and loved each and every one of her hundreds of piano students. They brought her great joy and fulfillment over many decades. She continued teaching until the final year of her life. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Philip, her son David, her grandson Zachary, and her sister Maxine. Margie is survived by her children Mark (Wendy) Ingersoll, Leiane (Russell) Nelson, Amy (Layne) Bell, Matt (Marianne) Ingersoll, and Katie (Wayne) Ipsen, 28 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren.
