Obituary for Leslie Thomas Bills Leslie Thomas Bills passed away at the age of 95, peacefully surrounded by family, on the afternoon of January 10, 2024, after a brief illness. He lived an honorable life, walking in the footsteps of his beloved savior. Now he is home. Leslie Thomas was born on September 26, 1928, to Leslie Bills and Josie Ila (Horkely) Bills in Ucon, Idaho. He was a graduate of Idaho Falls High School in 1946. In late May of 1946, he joined the US Navy and spent two years as an aviation mechanic at the Pensacola Naval Air Base and the San Diego Naval Air Base working on Corsairs and Hellcat fighter planes. After his stint in the US Navy, he attended Idaho State University where he met the love of his life, Alice B. Baker. He and Alice were married for time and all eternity, in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple on September 6, 1950. In 1955 he graduated from ISU with a BS degree in Accounting. He worked for most of his professional career for the US Treasury Department in Idaho Falls and Boise.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many positions over the years, including Elder's Quorum president, Bishopric councilor, Bishop and eventually Stake Patriarch. He and his wife served many memorable years as workers in the Boise, Idaho Temple.
Leslie and Alice were blessed with five children: Alan Reed, Steven Craig, Merri Jo, Deanne, and Jennifer Lynn. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Alan, Daughter-in-law Debbie Wood Bills, his two sisters, Sherri Howard and Donna Tomlinson. He is survived by his wife of 73 years, his son Steven (Darlene), daughters Merri Jo Bills, Deanne (Dan) Scrivner and Jennifer Reynolds, his sister Connie Tank, and 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren. Funeral Services and arrangements by Zeyer Funeral Chapel will be held on January 18th, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Tully Park Ward chapel at 5501 N. Meridian Rd. in Meridian, Idaho. The viewing will be at 10 AM and the funeral service at 11 AM. Internment will be at 1 PM at the Idaho Veterans Cemetery at 10100 N Horseshoe Bend Rd. Boise, ID 83714.
