Leland
Hennis
May 8, 1929 — Aug 1, 2015
Leland Leo Hennis, 86, passed away peacefully on August 1, 2015 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Leland was born in Nampa, Idaho on May 8, 1929, to Walter D. Hennis and Lucille I. Bond Hennis. He lived most of his life in Nampa, attending Scism School as a child and graduating from Nampa High School in 1947. One of the high points in Leland's life was serving for two years in The Texas -Louisiana Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He married Eva (Louise) Thorne in the Idaho Falls Temple on January 9, 1952. They settled in the Deer Flat area south of Nampa and raised six children. After retiring and moving from the farm in 1978, Leland had a successful yard care and maintenance business. Many yards and gardens in Nampa were cared for by his loving hands. When Louise passed away in 1994 Leland became a Temple worker in the Boise Temple. He loved his service there for almost ten years. In recent years, Leland lived in Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, and Salt Lake City, Utah to be closer to some of his family. He is survived by his children; Gayla (Larrie) Fuhriman, Becky (Lance) Buckley, Lori (Bob) Bult, Gregg Hennis, Bobby (John Blanks) Hennis, Corey (Linda) Hennis and his 14 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother, Stephen, and sisters Margaret Davis and Nancy Getter. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife Louise, his Parents, brothers Leonard (Leland's identical twin) and Rodney, and sister Marion. Leland was a humble, loving, hard-working man who made friends everywhere he went and was loved by everyone who knew him. Leland's family would like to thank the wonderful staff at the Avenues Courtyard in Salt Lake City for the love and compassion they gave to him while he was in their care. A celebration of his life will be held on Tuesday, August 11th at 12 noon, with a viewing at 11am, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Ruth Lane location in Nampa, Idaho. Memories and condolences may be sent to Zeyer Funeral Chapel, Nampa (www.zeyerfuneralchapel.com). Interment will be at the Kuna, Idaho Cemetery.
