Lecia Dawn (Hanks) DeCoursey passed away peacefully in her daughter's home on February 7, 2024, after a long and full life. She was 97 years old. Lecia was born on August 9, 1926, in Nampa, Idaho, to Harvard David Hanks and Mary Jenness (Myers) Hanks. She was the first of their seven children, four girls and three boys. She was raised on a farm north of the sugar factory on Northside Blvd. Life was not easy, but hard work, faith, and the farm provided the family's necessities through the years. Lecia met her eternal companion, Robert Lee DeCoursey, while attending Nampa High School. Robert was a senior and she was a sophomore. She graduated in 1944. Robert and Lecia were married on March 23, 1946, and began farming the DeCoursey farm on Ustick Road. They lovingly raised three sons and three daughters. Lecia was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints; a patient, loving wife and mother; and a kind, thoughtful neighbor and friend who was always concerned for those around her. She lived in Nampa for 91 years before moving to Meridian to live with her daughter, Karen, 9 years after the passing of her husband. She will be missed so very much, but her long-awaited reunion in heaven with Robert, her parents, and all who have gone before her was surely glorious. Lecia is survived by sons and daughters: Dale (Janet); Larry (Susan); Karen (Earle); Dave (Cynthia); Kayleen (Gerald); and Julie (Larry); brothers Douglas and David; 34 grandchildren, 81 great-grandchildren, and more than a dozen great-greatgrandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 17th at 10:00am at the Meridian North Stake LDS Chapel at 5555 N Locust Grove, Meridian, ID 83646.
