LaVerne Peck Olson was born Dec. 20, 1934 in Silver City, NM, to Beatrice Marie Paine and Hubert Carlisle Peck. She passed peacefully with family at her side on Jan. 13, 2015. She married Michael Robert McGrath on June 6, 1953, with whom she had 10 children and provided a home to her niece Susan and nephew Ronnie Phillips. They were married 30 years. Music was central to LaVernes life. As a teen, she played violin professionally with the El Paso Symphony Orchestra. Throughout her life she delighted in sharing musics beauty with family and community through choral singing, piano and organ. LaVerne devoted much energy and time to multiple volunteer positions in her local church wards in Texas, California and Idaho. On Sep. 8, 1994, she married LaMar Olson and has always considered his children Ken, Dianna and Susan as hers. This is when she came to Nampa. She is survived by her children Jamie, Mike, Patrick, Becky, Daniel McGrath and Elizabeth Moote, their spouses, 16 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her children Michael Walter, Wendy, Teresa Ann, and David McGrath and husband LaMar Olson. Service: 11 AM, Saturday Jan. 17, 2015 Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N.
