Obituary

Kenneth Merlin McKay, loving husband and father passed away May 26, 2021 at the age of 66, at home in Nampa, Idaho due to cancer. Ken was born in Boise, Idaho on the 21st day of June 1954. He was the 4th child of eight children born to Keith Lowell McKay and Donna Burnett McKay. Ken grew up in Meridian and lived there most of his life. He was a true farmer from the time he was born, digging in the dirt, climbing trees, chasing his brothers and sisters. When he was old enough to work, he chose the job he loved the most which was farming, driving the tractor, milking cows, setting sprinklers, hauling hay, and everything a farmer does. One of his best memoires was working with his grandfather and his Clydesdale horses, he and his brother Darrell would go on trips to all the County Fairs with their grandfather to show the horses and wagon. Ken graduated from Meridian High School and then went to work at Stephen S. Mortenson's milking cows. Through the years he had other jobs. It was about this time he met the love of his life, Pam. They were married May 2, 1974 in the Idaho Falls Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. They settled down in Kuna, Idaho to start their family. From there they moved to Boise, Payette, and then to Nampa. They raised six sons: David, Brian, Robert (Bert), Jay, Sam, and Chad. They were active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Ken held many positions in the Church, most of which involved working alongside his wife Pam. His hobbies were his children, grandchildren, playing a game of pinocle, and working on a farm every chance he had. He had three loves in his life the first was milking cows, the second was horses, the third was his family. Ken is survived by his wife Pam; his sons: David and his wife Mica, Brian and wife Andrea, Robert (Bert) and wife Betty, Jay, Sam and his wife Shannon, and Chad; and 15 grandchildren; his siblings: Peggy McKay Jenkins, Reed McKay, Roseann McKay Coles, Darrell McKay, Kristy Jenkins, and Lori McKay Littlefield; and numerous nieces and nephews. Ken was preceded in death by his parents Keith and Donna McKay, and eldest brother Richard McKay.
