Obituary

Karson Trey Monsma, age 28, born August 9, 1997 in Houston, Texas went to be with Jesus on December 26, 2025 in Nampa, Idaho.

Karson was the son of Mark Monsma and Sharla Kay Myers, stepson of David Myers, brother of Kyle Monsma and Katie (Monsma) and Eric Vaniman, uncle of Sariah, Zoe and Titus Vaniman, and grandson of Rheta Haringa. Preceded by grandparents, Herman Haringa and Timothy and Dorothy Monsma.

Karson was well-loved by his step-siblings as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins.

Karson loved his family, music, swimming, eating, going to church, and watching Bluey. He loved to laugh, joke around and have fun.

He had a life filled with both physical and medical challenges, but handled it all gracefully. He never complained and always radiated the joy of the Lord.

Karson was filled with so much happiness, that he could brighten up a day and pull someone up from the depths of despair. And he did this all without speech. Even though Karson could never fully verbalize his words, he always let people know what was on his mind. His eyebrows would stretch like rubber to show his thoughts. He was easy going and had a wonderful crooked smile that was contagious. Through his body language we knew just what he was thinking, whether he was looking to pull a prank through a smirk and looking to the side or showing love through gentle hugs and kisses. He loved to give a big wave with his hand on top of his head as a kind greeting and gave generous love pats (or hair/beard tugs) to his loved ones.

Karson enjoyed mealtime - he loved all foods and flavors. He was not afraid to get messy or reach far across the table to grab the food he was exceptionally excited to eat (or if he had run out of his own) - in fact his family created a term when setting the table, they would ask if it had been "karsonized", meaning "has all the food that we don't want Karson getting into been moved out of his reach?".

Karson was an overcomer, he worked hard to learn to walk with a walker and would find ways to move to where he wanted to go. But he especially loved to walk and move around in the water. Going to the pool and enjoying the water was one of his all time favorite things to do - he could spend hours in a pool enjoying moving around.

Karson loved music, he loved to tap his foot to the music at church (sometimes he would even sing after everyone else had gone quiet) and he had great rhythm when playing with his musical toys.

Karson loved big and was loved by many - his family misses him but takes comfort that he knows no more pain or sickness and is in the arms of his precious Savior Jesus.

"The Lord is my chosen portion and my cup; you hold my lot. The lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; indeed, I have a beautiful inheritance." - Psalm 16:5-6
