Joyce
Gomez
d. Mar 1, 2025
Joyce Kaye Gomez, 83, Boise, Idaho, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, March 1, 2025, in Boise, Idaho. Joyce was born on August 30, 1941, in the town of Arco, Idaho, to Dale F. and Mary Lou Reno. She was raised on a small sheep ranch in Chilly, Idaho. She attended both Mackay High School and Mountain Home High School.
Shortly after graduating from high school, she was engaged and married to Darwin Hansen on October 16, 1959, in the Idaho Falls Idaho Temple. She worked alongside her husband on the Zollinger Ranch until they welcomed their first child. Joyce quickly became immersed as a homemaker and stay-at-home mother. She enjoyed sewing clothes for her children and herself, baking warm bread they ate for dinner every day, and her children's favorite—monkey bread. They raised their children in Grandview, Idaho, where they lived on and worked for Triange Dairy. In 1982, Joyce and Darwin divorced.
She enjoyed serving in the Mutual Improvement Association (MIA) in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Joyce always loved serving with both the youth and children in her ward. Joyce loved feeling the spirit while being in the house of the Lord. She volunteered to serve in the Boise Idaho Temple for several years.
She met and fell in love with Pablo Gomez, whom she later married on February 20, 1993, in Elko, Nevada. They lived happily on a ranch in Bruneau, Idaho, where Pablo worked in the hay fields. On August 5, 1999, Pablo passed away in an accident.
Joyce is survived by her four children, Mariann (Kenyon) Millet (Nampa), Kevin Hansen (Meridian), Korey (Tara) Hansen (Kuna), Melissa Navarro (Boise), and her 18 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. Joyce was preceded in death by her first husband, Darwin Hansen; second husband, Pablo Gomez; and brother, Lynn Reno.
We want to thank First Choice Hospice nurses and staff for helping our family and Mother in our time of need.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 7, at Zeyer Funeral Chapel (83 N Midland Blvd, Nampa, ID 83651). There will be a viewing for family and friends from 9:30-10:00am at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, prior to the funeral services. Interment will be in the Chilly Cemetery under the direction of Zeyer Funeral Chapel.
