On the morning of June 3, 2016 Jon Douglas Tate passed away peacefully of natural causes. He was surrounded by his beloved wife of 58 years and several of his children at his home in Nampa, Idaho. At the time of his passing he was 79 years old. Jon was preceded in death by his father Homer Tate in 1974 and his mother Vennie Lou Dabbs Tate in 1996, and his only brother Jerry Dale Tate in 2015. Jon is survived by his beloved wife Alice Faye; his 8 children and their spouses: Doug & Kathy Gilbert, Randy & Jeannie Tate, Jeff & Julie Milich, David & Jennifer Tate, Daniel & Jennifer Jauregui, Jeff & Melissa Dorman, Barry & Debra Wren, and Ben & Dawn Cornwell; 27 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Showing his undying devotion and love for his country, Jon served three years in the Mississippi National Guard and two years active duty in the 82nd Airborne infantry parachute division of the United States Army. He graduated from Mississippi State University as an Entomologist. He spent the next 40 years as a beekeeper and cotton consultant in the Mississippi Delta. Amongst his hobbies Jon was a pilot, golf enthusiast, teacher and an eternal learner. Jon's devotion to God was shown in his everyday life. He served as a missionary, bishop and did much community service to meet the needs of humanity. While at Fort Bragg, he met his eternal companion, Alice Faye. She was the love of his life. Together they reared eight children through all the ups and downs of life. His devotion as a husband and as a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather was his most admirable trait, but also his favorite calling in life. There was no greater work.
