James Scott Adkins, known affectionately as Scott, passed away peacefully on November 13th, 2023, at 11:27 pm. Born on January 19th, 1949, in Tongue Point, Oregon, he was the cherished son of Herbert and Wilma Adkins. Scott's dedication to his country led him to serve as an Army Staff Sergeant during the Vietnam War. His pride in serving the nation he dearly loved was evident from a young age; he fervently pursued his desire to join the military, successfully enlisting at 17 years old after convincing his parents of his calling. Scott found profound joy in his family. He was preceded in death by his younger brother Carey Stephen "Gig" Adkins. His adoration for his beloved wife Laura, whom he married on October 29th, 2009, was immeasurable. Scott had a zest for life, relishing in travel adventures with Laura and treasured moments with his family in Idaho. His legacy extends beyond his military service; it encompasses the love he shared and the cherished memories he created with his loved ones. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the hospice staff at the VA for their unwavering support, comfort, and companionship during Scott's final days. James Scott Adkins will be fondly remembered for his unwavering patriotism, deep love for family, and the enduring legacy of dedication and service to his country.
