Jake
Milligan
d. Jun 10, 2023
Jake Douglas Milligan, 26, returned to the arms of his Heavenly Father on June 10, 2023, in American Fork, Utah.
Jake was born in a hurry, on a snowy day, January 30, 1997, to Douglas and Kerry Milligan and his older sisters Natalie and Kristen, in Truckee, California. Born with nearly inexhaustible natural charisma, Jake instantly became the honorary mascot, if not the betrothed, to all of his sisters' friends, teammates, and acquaintances. Without his sisters' formidable defense, he might have been wedded several times over. In 2004, Jake and his family moved to Eagle, Idaho where Jake found fast, lifelong friends.
At an early age, Jake found his true love in the blue jerseys of the Chelsea Football Club adorning his bedroom with posters of his heroes Frank Lampard, Didier Drogba, and Petr Cech. Jake was a dedicated sports fan, also cheering for the BYU Cougars, Los Angeles Rams, and Duke Basketball Blue Devils, among others. Jake loved to play soccer. He played as goalie on club teams, high school teams, and most frequently in the backyard with his family. His competitive spirit and love for sports made every game an epic battle.
Thanks to a great group of the very best friends, their moms, and the herculean efforts of his own mother and father, Jake graduated from Eagle High School in 2015. Trying to hold on to high school as long as possible, he and his friends spent their last night before graduation camping in the parking lot of the school.
In January of 2016, Jake faithfully accepted a call to serve in the Iowa Des Moines Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. While serving as a missionary, Jake further blossomed in his love of people and testimony of the gospel. He never missed a letter home expounding on his adventures with investigators, companions, and members of the Church in Iowa and reporting on every new strange and exotic food he actually tried. His family looked forward to every story he sent home.
After returning from his mission, Jake headed off to Utah Valley University where he majored in finance and girls...until he met Capree. In 2018, Jake took advantage of a family trip to Oahu's North Shore to ask Capree to marry him and she gleefully accepted. Jake and Capree were sealed in the Salt Lake Temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on August 3, 2019. Capree became an integral part of the Milligan family and Jake wholeheartedly accepted his new role as loving big brother to Capree's younger siblings Boston and Vienna. For Christmas of 2020, Jake and Capree adopted their fur-baby Truckee and Jake loved taking him to the park or on walks.
Jake was nearing the end of his finance degree at UVU and was excelling in his job working with two of his best friends from his hometown. Jake could often be found on the water. He loved riding jet skis, wakeboarding, or working to perfect his moves on the surfboard. Later in life, Jake became a passionate hunter chasing big game from Texas to small game in his parents backyard in Star, Idaho. Jake was usually the driving force behind the annual WalPooligan family trip to McCall, Idaho, taking the opportunity to show off his sweet surf and boat driving skills.
He is survived by his wife, Capree Jacobs; his parents Doug and Kerry Milligan; his sister Natalie and her husband Tyler, and their children: Parker, Rylan, Noel, and Charlotte; his sister Kristen and her husband Eric, and their children Hank and Quinn; his father and mother-in-law Lane and Shannon Jacobs; and brother and sister-in-law Boston and Vienna; among many other uncles and aunts, cousins, grandparents and friends who were more like family. He will be greatly missed.
There will be a family meeting and private viewing at 10:30AM with public services to begin at 11:00AM on Monday, June 19 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints loctaed at 9400 West Floating Feather Road in Star, Idaho. Interment will follow at the Star Cemetery at 9350 W. Floating Feather Road, Star, Idaho.
There will also be a luncheon for friends and family at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Building located at 1133 North Park Lane in Eagle, Idaho.
