Helen Hansen Moran Prescott was born July 6, 1919 at home in American Falls, Idaho to Rasmus and Julia Ann Morgan Hansen. She had two older sisters, Ila Hansen Nowland and LaVina Hansen Kindall and a younger brother Melvin R Hansen, all now deceased. They lived in Neely, Idaho. Helen had measles at age three that damaged her eyesight. She went to first and second grade at Rigby, Idaho in a horse-driven sleigh that carried six people. She worked with her family in the fields picking potatoes. Helen's family moved to Nampa in 1928 where she walked two miles to Roosevelt School which was a 2-room schoolhouse. In 1932 Helen moved to Meridian and graduated from the 8th grade and attended Meridian High School but quit in her sophomore year to marry Kenneth E Moran on March 3, 1936. They lived on his parent's ranch on the corner of Eagle Road and Chinden Blvd until 1945 when they moved their small house into Meridian. Helen and Kenneth had six children but divorced in 1956. Helen married Earl W Prescott on July 3, 1959 and they moved to Nampa. Helen worked as a waitress; at a laundry; and for J C Penney's. When Earl passed in 1983, Helen went to work at Midland Manor Nursing Home as a dietary aide. She worked there until age 79 and didn't miss a day of work in 15 years. Helen got breast cancer at age 79 but after surgery she went on to live a full and happy life. Helen also had three cornea transplants and the family is grateful for these donations that enriched her life. Helen's six children are: Doris J Wallace (Lawrence, deceased) of Boyertown, PA, Ronald L Moran (deceased 11-17-2012), Richard T Moran (Verla Moran-deceased and Shirley Weldon) of Cascade, ID, J Kay McGinley (Louis "Mac") of Meridian, ID, Linda J Hefner (Gene) of Nampa, ID, and Ida Louise Frickey (David) of Meridian, ID. Helen has 18 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, and 32 great-great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-great grandchildren. Helen was a single parent for most of her children's life. She made many sacrifices to take good care of her children and their spotless home. Helen was proud of all her children as they became successful in their lives. She appreciated that they helped her to have a quality life. Helen enjoyed traveling with her children and their spouses to Pennsylvania, Hawaii, Washington, California, the Oregon Coast, Utah, Florida, Arkansas and New York. She loved animals, especially dogs. She enjoyed staying at the Smith's Ferry cabin. At the age of 80 years, she drove a snowmobile around the mountain!. The family appreciates all those who have had a positive impact on Helen's life. They also wish to express heart felt appreciation to those at Grace Assisted Living in Meridian and at Horizon Hospice for the wonderful and loving care they gave to Helen. There are many others, but too numerous to mention. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 7, 2018, at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N. Midland Blvd., Nampa, Idaho. A viewing will be held at the chapel from 10-10:30a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Meridian, Cemetery, Meridian, Idaho
