Obituary

Gladys Rachel Harris Rivers of Dallas, Oregon, formerly of Nampa, Idaho, passed away June 2, 2018 at the age of 105 years and 2 months, at home surrounded by family. Gladys was born to Rachel Harris (Lamb) and Guy Gladden Harris April 2, 1913 in Emmett, Idaho. Her father, Guy, died of the Spanish Influenza in 1918. Her mother, Rachel, had to go to work and left Gladys to care for the three younger children at home. She went to school in Emmett, Idaho. In March of 1929 she married her one and only sweetheart William Cleon Rivers. She worked at times as a seamstress at a drapery shop in Nampa, Idaho, and as a buyer at JCPenney in Morgan Hill, California. She loved sewing, quilting, her beautiful flowers and tasty vegetables. She also enjoyed painting and friends. Gladys was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William Cleon Rivers, her sister Ellen Deveraux of Idaho Falls, two brothers and their wives: Guy Harris (Lee), Orville Harris (Aloisa) both of Emmett, eldest son Donald Rivers (Marion) of Port Orchard, Wash., a grandson, a granddaughter and a great grandson. She is survived by her three sons: Gerald of Dallas, LaVar (Lois) of Nampa and Eldon (Nancy) of Dallas; 17 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren and 25 great great grandchildren.
