Ginger Newland Fuhriman

Ginger Newland Fuhriman, 90, of Nampa, Idaho, danced joyfully into the arms of our Savior on Wednesday, August 26th.

Ginger was the only daughter of John Arthur Newland and Leva Campbell Newland Reece, born July 15, 1936, in Nampa.

She attended Nampa Schools and Nampa Business College prior to her marriage to David G. Fuhriman, her lifelong friend and eternal sweetheart. They met in church at the age of 4 and attended the same Sunday School class their entire lives. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, actively serving in a variety of callings in the 2nd, 5th, and 30th Wards.

Ginger’s earliest passions were tap, ballet, and ballroom dancing, with many opportunities to teach and perform. She was also a great lover of music. She played the piano and organ and sang in both school and church choirs.

She was very skilled at designing, creating, and sewing clothing; quilts; fabric dolls for her granddaughters; costumes for dance teams; prom; and wedding dresses. She willingly shared her sewing talents with family, friends, and even an occasional stranger.

Her creativity extended into the kitchen: canning and preserving, baking bread and cinnamon rolls, cooking meals for family and those in need, and always making sure the cookie jar was full for her children and grandchildren. Feeding and serving those she loved the most brought her great joy.

Ginger was always eager to teach the homemaking skills she had developed through years of practice. She wanted others to find the sense of accomplishment she enjoyed, so she generously gave of her time to teach bread making, canning and preserving, sewing, budgeting, and baking.

She had a strong faith in her Savior and loved the Gospel of Jesus Christ. She sought every opportunity to serve others. She had a compassionate heart, a listening ear, and a ready smile and was always looking for ways to lighten the burdens of those around her.

She is survived by her husband of 70 years, David G. Fuhriman, to whom she was sealed in the Idaho Falls Temple, Nov. 4, 1955.

Her posterity includes 6 children: Crystal Walker (J. Todd), Fawn Annette Baerwaldt (Darrel), David Gordon Fuhriman (1965-1989), Nicklas Newland Fuhriman (Kristen), Nyal Trent Fuhriman (Becky), and Sarina Lacee Folwell (Ron); 24 grandchildren; and 61 great-grandchildren.

Ginger is also survived by her brother, John A. Newland (Jack) of Eagle, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Gordon, and her brother George Francis Newland.

Funeral Services will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 1, 2026 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3904 E. Greenhurst Rd, Nampa, ID. A gathering of friends and family will take place from 10:00-10:45 prior to the service. A graveside service will take place at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens at the conclusion of the service.
