Gary Lorl Johnson, age 93, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his wife and posterity, on January 18, 2025, at his home in Boise, Idaho. Gary was born on December 24, 1931 in Driggs, Idaho to Carl William Johnson and Helen Leatham. The second of four sons, Gary was raised in a home where the values of hard work, integrity, love, and foremost, kindness to others, were taught and lived. Gary graduated from Nampa High School in 1950 and from Brigham Young University, (Provo, Utah) in 1955. Following graduation, Gary began a 30-year career with the Northwest Natural Gas Pipeline. Gary married his lifelong companion, Charlene H. Hobbs on April 17, 1956, in the Idaho Falls, Idaho Temple. They are the parents of seven children. Gary was a lifelong and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day-Saints. He and his wife Charlene served church missions, in both Sydney, Australia and Adam- ondi- Ahman, Missouri. Gary is survived by his family and posterity including: his wife Charlene H Johnson, his brothers Kent & Donald Johnson, his children: Tracy Lyn (Bob Bailey), Valerie Jean (Jared Hulme), Dixie Rae (Sevison), Darin Gary Johnson, Shawna Lee (Kelly Bartlett), Darcy Kay (Jeff Youngstrom), and Darla Jo (Erik Atkinson), his 17 grandchildren and 30 great grandchildren. A viewing will be held Thursday, January 30th from 6:00-7:30pm. The funeral service will be held in Gary's honor on Friday, January 31st at 11:00am. A viewing will be held that morning prior to the funeral, from 10:00-10:45am. Both Thursday and Friday services will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Chapel, located at 1111 S. Cole Rd, Boise, Idaho 83709. Burial will follow the funeral service at Meridian Cemetery located at 895 E. Franklin Rd. Meridian, Idaho 83642.
