Garry Dean Pope Jr. was born on October 8, 1970, in Nampa, Idaho, as the second of two children to Garry Dean Pope and Janet Irene (Tlucek) Pope. He passed away at his home in Kuna, Idaho, on May 24, 2026, at the age of 55.
Garry grew up in Nampa, ID. In his younger years, he was known for his love of music and the joy he brought to those around him. He played the piano well and even performed at his school, sharing his talent with friends, classmates, teachers, and family. Outside of music, he enjoyed spending time outdoors with his friends, often going to the park, swimming, or riding bikes around town, creating memories that would stay with him throughout his life.
Garry graduated from Nampa Senior High School in 1989 and later attended ITT Technical Institute, earning a degree in Applied Science, Electronics Engineering Technology. From a young age, he understood the value of hard work and responsibility. Garry began working as a newspaper carrier for the Idaho Press Tribune before taking positions at Tropical Snow and Shopko. Eventually, he found his long-term career at Micron, where he dedicated more than 33 years of service. His strong work ethic, loyalty, and commitment were evident throughout his career and respected by all who worked alongside him.
In his spare time, Garry was always the person friends and family turned to for help with computers and technology. If something wasn't working, people knew they could call him. He enjoyed watching movies, building computers, and visiting amusement parks, combining his curiosity and technical skills with his favorite hobbies. Above all, he will be remembered for his kindness and generous spirit, always willing to help others. He had a truly giving heart and caring nature, always willing to lend his time, knowledge, and support to those around him.
Garry is survived by his mother, Janet Pope, of Nampa, ID; his sister, Wendy Howell (Gary VanHouten), of Caldwell, ID; his niece, Tianna Howell, and great-niece, Addelyn Howell, of Caldwell, ID; his niece, Brandi Wilson (Tyler), and great-nephew, Weldon Wilson, of Ontario, OR; his nephew, Zachary Howell, of Caldwell, ID; his aunts, Lois Hern of Hamilton, MT, and Rita Pope of Blackfoot, ID; and his uncle and aunt, Mike and Laraine Pope, of Blackfoot, ID.
He was preceded in death by his father, Garry Pope, his grandparents, William Tlucek, and Emma Tlucek, his uncle and aunt, Jean and Clay Putnum, his uncles, William "Bill" Pope and Roy Hern, William "Bill" Tlucek, Ronald Ormsby, his aunt Lily Archer, and four cousins.
