G. Anne Hoyt
1937–2025
Born: 1937 Died: 2025
G. Anne Hoyt passed away peacefully in her sleep in Nampa, Idaho, on December 29, surrounded by her loving family. Anne was born in Baker, Oregon, on January 16, 1937, to Ivan and Garnet Compton. She was an only child, but her Banty chickens and cats were great companions. Most important was the close bond she had with her mom.
When Anne was small, her mother met and married her second husband, Olney Mickey, who readily and willingly helped raise her.
Anne attended school and graduated from Baker High. She enjoyed decorating for the school dances, attending basketball and football games, and being involved in Rainbow Girls. She had many great stories to tell. Going to the circus, fairs, and town events were always highlights. She loved to read and listen to her record albums. Anne was active in church and wore dresses and hats. Pants were not allowed. She liked her pedal pushers, though. Art was her favorite class.
During high school, she met her first husband, Roland Yokom. This union took Anne from being an only child to having eleven siblings-in-law. She loved each of them. Though this relationship was not permanent, they raised three children together: Larry, Debra, and Robin. Anne loved being a mother, and her children were her greatest blessings. She had great faith and raised her family accordingly.
Anne enjoyed working in the food service industry in diners, soda fountain bars, and later in the dietary department in nursing facilities. She loved to cook. Her specialties were banana oatmeal cookies, chocolate cake, hot rolls, cinnamon rolls, and pumpkin bread.
In 1984, she married Chester (Chet) Hoyt and blended their families by bringing together her three children and his seven children: Sam Hoyt, Joan Ledington, Janna Harkins, Kerry Poppaw, Rocky Hoyt, Jean Crawford, and Alan Hoyt with their spouses and children.
It was also during this time that Anne learned of a half-brother, Clifford Compton. They welcomed each other and enjoyed their visits.
Anne will be remembered for her quiet ways, her unwavering faith, patience, and the love and devotion she had for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Anne is survived by her daughters; Debra (Randy) Holloway, Robin Simmons (Richard Carr), thirteen grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren, numerous cousins, and close friends Sandy, Cathy, and Ruby. She is also survived by blended family Sam Hoyt, Kerry Poppaw, Rocky Hoyt, and Alan Hoyt and their families. Proceeding her in death are her father Ivan, stepfather Olney, mother Garnet, husband Chester (Chet), son Larry, and blended family Joan, Janna, and Jean.
Special thanks from the family to the staff at St. Luke's Hospital for the care and compassion they gave to Mom.
