Francis Dean Vassar, 92, of Nampa, Idaho, died peacefully at home on September 26, 2026, surrounded by family.

Francis loved scouting. He received the Silver Beaver Award for 25 years of service.

He is survived by his wife, Marty Vassar; his children, Edward Vassar of California, Lee Vassar of Idaho, Robert McKechnie of Washington, Larry Reece of Idaho, Lori Ann Belitz of Idaho, Lynette Hopkins of California, Cecile Hemphill of Washington, and Pam Berner of Idaho; and his four stepchildren, Margie Barnett of Idaho, Holly Hays of Idaho, Mary Peckham of West Virginia, and Clyde Adams of Idaho. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Francis was preceded in death by his parents, three siblings, and a daughter, Kathy.

A viewing will be held Wednesday, September 30, 2026, from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. at Zeyer Funeral Chapel on Midland Road in Nampa. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Middleton Road in Nampa. Burial will be Friday, October 2, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery on Karcher Road in Nampa.
