Obituary

Evelyn Platt Beltman, 84, of Nampa, Idaho went to be with her Lord and Savior on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, survived by her husband of 51 years, Tony Beltman and family. Her sudden death was peaceful, termed undiagnosed heart failure.

Born in the Netherlands, January 12, 1938, Evelyn was the first child of Sid and Winnie Platt, followed by Ida, Rita, Pete, Tena and Jack. Twelve years later their family immigrated to the U.S. in 1950, eventually settling in Artesia, California.

Evelyn graduated from Calvin College, MI, as an elementary school teacher and returned to California for her first teaching job at Artesia Christian Elementary School. In her mid-twenties, her love of adventure brought her to Europe, where she spent five years as a teacher to children of American military families. After returning to the states, Evelyn accepted the combined position of Principal/Teacher at Arcadia Christian Elementary School.

Eventually becoming reacquainted with family friend Tony Beltman, they were soon married on April 7, 1971 at 1st Chino CRC. Evelyn not only became a wife, but an instant 2nd mom to Sheri 19, Steve 17, Stan 15 and Tom 11. She lovingly embraced her new family, gracefully and dearly sharing in their prior memories.

Dairy/country life was an easy fit...mom's love of animals, birds and especially kitties were a delight to her! In 1983, a family move to a dairy community in Stephenville, Texas evolved their lives in many ways. Wearing many hats, they were building years devoted to church, Christian school, family and dairy. A particular joy those 24 years were the grandchildren growing up around them, popping in daily to enjoy grandma's "Tang tea parties," baking cookies, playing games or petting her kitties. Evelyn loved people, her cards and letters filled many a mailbox...her hospitality warm and gezellic.

Evelyn and Tony enjoyed the many church families they have been privileged to be part of...most recently Zillah, WA CRC for twelve years and 3 1/2 years with Christ Reformed Church in Nampa, Idaho.

Evelyn is survived by her husband Tony Beltman, 98 years young; children: Sheri Mulder, Glendora, CA, Steve and Lois Beltman, Nampa, ID, Stan and Chris Beltman, Sunnyside, WA and Tom and Tina Beltman, Parma, ID; 15 grandchildren and spouses; 26 great grandchildren; and also, her four siblings and two spouses. She is preceded in death by her parents; her 3-month-old twin baby brothers, Pieter and Jappie;and her sister Tena Newhof.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be received for: Safe Children and Families Treasure Valley Chapter: c/o Christ Reformed Church, 12693 Orchard Ave Nampa, Idaho 83651
