Eddie
Combs
Jun 1, 1936 — Jan 22, 2025
Eddie Leon Combs, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 88 on January 22, 2025. He was born on June 1, 1936, in Bradleyville, Missouri, to Shade Rick Combs and Laura Jane Maggard. Eddie was the third of five children in the family, growing up surrounded by his three brothers and one sister in the rolling hills of Missouri. In the 7th grade, Eddie's family relocated to Homedale, Idaho, where he would meet the love of his life, Marjorie Florence Pike. Eddie and Marjorie married on January 9, 1954, a union that would last for 71 years. Together, they created a family. While their journey began by leaving school early to start their lives, they both made sure to pursue their education. Eddie earned his GED and went on to graduate with honors from Boise Junior College, where he honed his skills in sheet metal fabrication—a trade in which he would excel for many years. Eddie served his country proudly in the Army National Guard, and his love for America remained strong throughout his life. He instilled this same patriotic spirit in his children, who often found themselves reciting the Pledge of Allegiance as a family on Memorial Day and the 4th of July. He flew the American flag at his home and cabin, a symbol of his enduring pride for the freedoms his country afforded. Eddie and Marjorie raised three daughters: Nancy, Judy, and Jeannie. As a father, Eddie's discipline was firm but fair. Family was everything to Eddie. In 1969, Eddie and Marjorie opened their heart and home to Eddie's nephew, John, whom he and Marjorie raised after the untimely passing of Eddie's youngest brother. A master craftsman, Eddie's work spanned many years with the Sheet Metal Workers Union. He could build, repair, and fabricate nearly anything. No project was too large or small for Eddie, and his skills in plumbing, electrical, and tile work were unparalleled. In the mid 1960's, Eddie converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The Church played a big role with the Boy Scouts of America and he cherished his involvement in this organization. He loved teaching the boys skills and sharing his knowledge of all things. He also was active with the Lions Club and enjoyed his time in a bowling league. In his retirement years, Eddie and Marjorie enjoyed living life to the fullest, splitting their time between Idaho and Maui, Hawaii. They spent 20 blissful years traveling, soaking in the beauty of the islands, and living life as empty nesters. Eddie is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie; their three children, Nancy (Steve) Sommer, Judy (Neil) Frischknecht, Jeannie (Andrew) King; one sister, Virginia Tuning; 12 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers; one granddaughter; and one great granddaughter. A celebration of Eddie's life will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at Zeyer Funeral Chapel, 83 N Midland Blvd in Nampa, ID. Graveside services will conclude at Marsing-Homedale Cemetery at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a charity of your choice. He will be deeply missed, but his memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of crossing his path.
