Obituary

Douglas Harvey Pallesen, 89, passed away on Friday, January 26, 2024, surrounded by his family. He was born to Harvey Milford and Elna Johnson Pallesen on December 29, 1934, in Worthington, Minnesota. He was the youngest of two children.

At an early age, Doug learned to work hard and worked alongside his mom and dad at the family-owned gas station. He loved hunting, fishing, and trapping with his dad. Every chance Doug had, he was out hunting. At 14, Doug moved to Nampa, Idaho, where he graduated from Nampa High School in 1952. Shortly after, he joined the Air Force National Guard and served 8 years. He married Mavis Orean Leer on November 2, 1952, and they had four children together. Doug was a home builder in Nampa, Idaho, until his father's passing in 1968. After that, he joined Fleetwood Enterprises and moved around the country with his family until settling in Riverside, California, in 1970, where he worked as a corporate executive. Doug's love for boating, fishing, and hunting often took him back to Idaho for new adventures.

Doug married Janis Savoy on July 28, 1978, and spent 45 wonderful years together. They loved and enjoyed many ventures, traveling around the world. They returned to Idaho in 1991, where Doug continued building homes and won numerous awards with the Snake River Valley Building Contractors Association.

Doug was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served in many ward and stake positions over the years, including Bishopric Counselor, Stake Counselor, Stake Sunday School, and High Priest Group Leader. His most memorable callings were serving as a Senior Missionary with his wife, Jan, in the New York, Rochester, and the Tennessee Nashville Missions. He also worked for many memorable years in the Boise, Idaho Temple. Doug was a man of integrity and spiritual strength for his family. He always showed love and kindness to everyone he knew.

He is survived by his wife, Janis Savoy Pallesen, and his children, Steven Douglas Pallesen, Brenda Diane Rojas, Tamara Sue Raybon, Brian Leer (Cari) Pallesen, and stepdaughter Amber Lynn Canite, 18 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Helen Kotter.
