Douglas Ray Boyce 5.11.1955 - 9.09.2023
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Douglas Ray Boyce - treasured husband, dad, grandpa, b-pa, and friend - on September 9, 2023. Doug was a remarkable individual whose presence enriched the lives of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Doug is survived by his beloved wife, Leann; their four children: Josh, August (Lucas), Richelle (Patrick), and Amanda (McKay); 14 grandchildren: Dakota, Heath, Caleb, Josiah, McKenna, Everleigh, Alyss, Chance, Akiah, Tyler, Logan, Brielle, Jaxon, Saige; and 2 dogs, Patches and Ruby.
A favorite pastime of Doug's was tinkering in the garage. He was a true MacGyver of mechanics. His skill and dedication to his craft were unmatched, and he could fix anything that came his way; sometimes even engineering and fabricating his own parts. He approached every challenge with relentless determination. His mind was always working on solutions for even the most difficult mechanical quandaries. He was an inventor, and often kept notebooks nearby to draw or write about the things he imagined.
Not only was Doug a man of many talents, he had an infectious sense of humor. He had a penchant for *loud* ties and could often be found wearing his bold choices to church services and special events. He was well known for his "dad jokes", and he had a gift for bringing laughter to any situation with his clever quips and well-timed puns.
His love for serving in the church was a reflection of his generous heart. Doug had a strong and resolute spirit. He was as firm in his faith as he was in his convictions. He served in the church with unwavering dedication and treasured his time in his various callings. He spent 17 years volunteering in the Boise and Meridian temples. He loved the experiences he had there and was proud to have recently served a 2-year temple service mission with his wife, Leann.
Among his greatest memories were the times he spent traveling the world with Leann, and their daughters; and his days in the mountains of beautiful Idaho, hunting, target shooting, and 4-wheeling with his sons.
He also enjoyed mini golf, woodworking, fishing, football games, and movie nights with dear friends and family. In his last days, he was surrounded by many who came to express their love and share their favorite memories. We are so grateful for the support of those who loved him.
In remembrance of Doug, please wear your *loudest* tie or jewelry to his service. If you do not have one, a tie will be available for you from Doug's eclectic collection.
