Obituary

Doris was born July 13th, 1943, in Portland, Oregon, to Harold and Alice Keller. She passed away on September 26th, 2026, in Caldwell, Idaho. Doris was the oldest of six children and was raised in Hermiston, Oregon. She graduated from Hermiston High School in 1961 and then went to Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho, and graduated with a degree in teaching.

Doris later went on to marry Terry Westmark and had their daughter Tami in 1966, and they lived in Portland, Oregon, for years. In 1973, Doris and Tami moved to Nampa, Idaho, where she worked for the Caldwell School District with students in the gifted and talented program. This program served four grades at two schools: fourth and fifth grade at Washington Elementary and sixth and seventh grade at Wilson Middle School. She would teach students at Washington Elementary in the mornings and at Wilson Middle in the afternoon. During this time Doris and Tami moved to Caldwell, Idaho.

In 1981, Doris met the love of her life, Tom Moore, and they were married. After they married, Doris and Tami moved to Marsing, Idaho, and they blended their families. Everyone would drive to Caldwell to attend and work for the Caldwell School District.

Time moves on, and all but one of the kids are out of the house. This was when Doris and Tom bought their dream cabin in the mountains. Doris had since retired from the Caldwell School District, while Tom was working as the assistant superintendent, and most days he would commute from their cabin on Grimes Creek. Tom was promoted to superintendent in 1995 to oversee the building of the new Caldwell High School. Upon its completion, Tom was able to retire in 1997.

Their first years of retirement were spent traveling and learning wood carving techniques from Indian tribes. They would spend their winters in the cabin and the summers at an RV park in Cascade, Idaho, teaching others carving techniques. Doris loved to pick up her grandchildren from Caldwell and take them up to spend time in Cascade.

In March of 2005, Tom passed away, and Doris moved back to Caldwell to be with family. A few years later, she moved in with Tami and her husband Joe and their children, Jared and Victoria. In her last years, Doris lived at Autumn Wind Assisted Living in Caldwell.

Doris is survived by her daughter Tami and her husband Joe and her grandchildren. Jared Moore and his wife Allie; Victoria Moore; Tom Moore and his wife Hailee and their two daughters Zariyah and Rylee; and James Moore and his husband Chris. She is survived by her sisters, Janice Crown and Cheryl Kaiser and their children and grandchildren, and her sister-in-law Libby Keller. Doris was preceded in death by her parents and three siblings: Ardis Stewart, Don Keller, and Theron Keller.

Services to honor Doris’ life will be held on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2026, at 10am at Calvary Chapel Caldwell located at 911 Everett Street.
