Obituary

Donald Vaughn Kilborn Airframe & Power Plant Mechanic 1961 - 2023 Donald Vaughn Kilborn, age 83, was present with Jesus on Friday, November 10, 2023. He was born on March 26, 1940 in Twin Falls, ID to Donald Harris Kilborn and Iva Vaughn Kilborn. Vaughn was married to Beatrice Kilborn on December 29, 1965 and the two were inseparable until April 17, 2018 when she stepped into glory. Together, they had two sons, Dwight and Eric. Vaughn and Bea enjoyed every part of their life together…where you found one, the other was always there too. Vaughn was born and raised in southern Idaho. His parents had a small 80 acre farm south of Kimberly, Idaho where he learned to farm, hunt, fish, camp, rock hound, ride horses and drive fast. He loved any and everything that involved the great outdoors. He instilled that same love for the outdoors into his sons and their children.. He began his career in aviation after flying in his first plane shortly after graduating from high school. Vaughn went to Idaho State University Trade School in Pocatello, ID in the fall of 1959 and graduated in 1961 with his Airframe & Power Plant certification and license, which he maintained for the past 62 years. During his career, Vaughn always maintained his professional ethics and personal character, even when the industry put pressure on him to cut corners.. His career has spanned from humble beginnings in general aviation at the Piper Dealer in Burley, ID, to military aviation in the army where he spent his Vietnam tour stationed in Vung Tau. One of his first stations back in America was at Edwards Air Force base. He worked on the Army's experimental aircrafts; two of which were the SR-71 Blackbird and the F-104 Starfighter. After the military, he spent many years in corporate aviation with Boeing, Pacific Northern Airlines, Western Airlines, and Delta, before returning to general aviation. He has been honored to work for Wolverton War Birds, Tulsa Aircraft Engines, Reeder Flying Services, Spur Aviation.and upon his home going - working for a former boss Mike Hardy at Plane Services. He was a gifted and talented mechanic, and described himself as "an expert in finding cracks." Vaughn contributed His career and lasting success as an A&P Mechanics to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, who gave him the wisdom and ability to know what to do and how to do it. Some keys he has learned through the years is to: "Learn something new everyday." "Take advantage of every school, or person, that you have the opportunity to attend or work with." "Stay humble and learn from people who are older and wiser than you, because they know what is not in the books, as well as those who are younger than you who understand the newest technology." Vaughn wouldn't change his mind, unless you could prove him wrong. You would have to argue your position with a passion that you know you're right! Lastly, Vaughn could be described by His Heavenly Father in Exodus 31:3 "And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom and ability, in understanding and intelligence, and in knowledge, and in all kinds of craftsmanship,…" He devoted his life to excel in the arena of aviation mechanics without sacrificing his devotion to being a loving husband, father, grandfather and greatgrandfather. Vaughn is survived by his son Dwight and wife Jennifer, their children Kendrick and Seth Kilborn of Taiwan; his son Eric and wife Kirsten of Colorado, their children Cole and wife Emilie and their daughter Charlette of Kansas, Ethan and wife Abigail of Oklahoma, and Hannah Kilborn and fiancé Traevon Chartier of Oklahoma. Funeral service will be held on December 4, 2023, 10:00 a.m. at Zeyer Funeral Chapel 83 N. Midland Boulevard, Nampa, ID 83651.
