Derek Ryan Schaffer passed away unexpectedly at the age of 34 on November 26, 2023. Derek was born in Nampa, Idaho on November 2, 1989, to Lance Schaffer and Patricia Vranish. Derek grew up in Nampa, Idaho and attended Skyview High School. He graduated from Columbia High School in 2008 and explored interests in construction while working for NW Interiors, then alongside his dad and brother at Schaffer Construction & Austin Lane Construction. Derek enjoyed many outdoor activities including dirt biking, hunting, fishing, and snowboarding. He excelled at football, baseball, and wrestling, spending countless hours with his dad to perfect his craft. Derek felt freedom in the outdoors, especially when that included "rip'n cigs & drinking beers" with Grandma Vranish in Yellow Pine. His lighthearted and easy-going personality made everyone within reach feel wholly accepted and truly loved. He shined brightest while enjoying the company of beloved friends and family, sharing with us his soul-filling sense of humor and warm heart. While he could never quite get away with the endless mischievous antics, his playful spirit was cherished by all. Derek and his journey have impacted our lives in countless ways, leaving a mark we'll carry with us always. The extraordinary beauty of his simple human heart will be felt, remembered & deeply missed forever. Derek is survived by his father Lance Schaffer & Lisa Crawford; his mother Patricia & Marco Vranish; and Lisa Schaffer; as well as siblings Ashley (31) & Austin (29); half siblings Aaden (14), Brock, (14) & Brooklyn (14); stepsiblings: Derrick (33), Monique (31), Chase (28), Macy (19), Hannah (17) & Josiah (14); his nephew, Tyler (6); nieces Aspen (11), Ryleigh (10) & Sancia (2 Months); and many aunts and uncles. Please join us in celebrating Derek's life at 1:00pm on Friday, December 1st at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 3305 W. Kuna Road, Kuna, Idaho. Burial service to follow at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, 15862 S. Indiana Ave, Caldwell, Idaho. A luncheon for the family only will be held following the burial services at Lance Schaffer's home, 278 S. Knightsbridge Lane, Nampa, Idaho.
