Obituary

Deanna Golightly Tippets passed away on January 6, 2026 at her home in Boise, Idaho. She was born on May 1st, 1943, in her family home in Preston, Idaho, to Alma and Ardell Golightly. She was the oldest daughter of five children.

As a child Deanna grew up in Preston, Melba, and Meridian, Idaho. She attended Meridian High School where she was named the Betty Crocker Homemaker of Tomorrow and graduated in 1961. During high school, unbeknownst to her, she met her future husband Wayne Tippets at a church dance. After graduation, she moved with a friend to Salt Lake City where she reconnected with Wayne while he was attending college at BYU. They were married on March 6, 1964, in the Logan Utah Temple.

Throughout their marriage, they lived across the United States where they lived in numerous states including Minnesota, Utah, Iowa, Virginia, Tennessee, Oklahoma, and California. Finally, they returned to Boise, Idaho, where they could begin their retirement. Deanna enjoyed traveling. One of her favorite trips was a church history tour to Nauvoo, Illinois. She also traveled to Hawaii, Ireland, Scotland, and had many trips to visit her three sons.

Deanna worked numerous careers throughout her life as they traveled across the US and finally retired from the US attorney's office in Boise. She found joy in cooking, gardening, reading, genealogy, crafting, and most of all: raising her sons. Her children and grandchildren loved learning to cook from her. She was a life long member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where she served in a multitude of callings.

She is survived by her loving husband, Wayne Tippets, her three sons and their spouses: Alan and Julie, David and Kim, and Keith and Diane; her grandchildren, Devin Tippets, Jared Tippets, Jacob Tippets, Jenna Axtman, Christopher Hermansen, Sean Hermansen, Kyle Tippets, Kaileb Hermansen, and Katelyn Nichols. She also has one great granddaughter, Jolie Axtman. She was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Kathy Tippets.

Deanna will be remembered for her service and devotion to her family, her quiet strength, and the love she shared throughout her life for her friends and family.
